Apologies, this isn't necessarily podcasting but rather podcasting-adjacent, so I figured I would ask it here.

I have a Rodecaster Duo that is connected on USB port 1 to my Windows 11 PC. I've also been working with Rode on this, but so far their troubleshooting steps haven't panned out and figured I'd run it by the community as well.

So what happens is every now and then the Rodecaster just drops all audio from my PC, and any mic input stops as well. At a bare minimum I have to restart all affected programs before it will resolve, and often I have to completely reboot. It's basically as if it disconnected for a fraction of a second.

The Rodecaster is plugged in to its own power supply, firmware is up to date, ASIO driver is installed, I've tried swapping out the USB cable and plugging in to a different port, I've tried factory resetting it...no dice.

My Mac Mini is plugged in to USB port 2 and has never had any issues like this. I also don't have any other issues like this with other USB devices on my Windows PC, I've made sure all power management features are disabled on my USB host controller, made sure devices aren't set to sleep, there's no errors showing up in Windows event viewer...long story short, I'm at my wit's end here, so unless Rode pulls a rabbit out of their hat, I'm at a loss.

This is extremely unfortunate as beyond this reliability issue, it really is a lovely device that does everything exactly as I need it to. Anyone got any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I see there are no posts here so I'll ask some questions and maybe it will prompt further discussion.

I'm an old-school broadcaster that would like to use my skills in the podcast medium. I have some ideas for what I believe are solid foundations for podcasts and have the audio production fairly squared, but I want to know what options exist today for hosting on the frugal and diy side. And strategies for multi-platform release, and eventual audience financial support. I see lots of folks putting out their shows across YouTube, etc as well as an RSS feed. Often using Patreon in lieu of sponsorship.

Hoping some experienced folks can throw out some options and what has worked for them. I'd like to not get encumbered in some host that will be difficult to leave later if their terms or service change -as this seems to be a growing problem with all internet media.

Thanks!

With Sticher shutting down after I just found a great Podcast app, I will be switching to Pocket Casts. What is everyone else using?

Never my favourite podcast app (prefer Pocketcasts) but interesting to see such a well known app closing. Apple and Spotify seem to dominate listens - can smaller apps and services even compete?

Be flexible with the host's schedule. Sometimes it's not their fulltime job and they will need to reschedule. Sometimes more than once.

The whole series is fantastic.
