Fun fact: most rubber is synthetic and made of plastic now, including car tires.
TBH, it feels like social media always needed some back door business like this to make it profitable.
The tragedy is that humans aren't convinced to change their minds by facts like this. They're convinced by good stories from their friends and family.
Stuff like this is why I've stopped advocating for nuclear. Even though most of the info about why we shouldn't use nuclear is wrong, there are just better alternatives and it's not worth the argument.
Capitalism is full of contradictions!? No way!! /s
Wasn't this an episode of Community?
It's crazy that we know all the carbon in coal and and oil and ect comes from a period of history where there was more carbon in earths cycles, and it's widely believed to be a period of time where the whole earth had a tropical environment.
And everyone was just like "Putting this all back in the atmosphere is probably fine."
Yo I see this shit posted all the time. The article was written in 2008 for the UNs magazine and meant to be satire. It has since been removed by the UN for being ambiguous.

Fission doesn't happen because we cut atoms in half. Fission happens because we blast enriched uranium with neutrons, the uranium absorbs a neutron, gets too heavy, and falls apart.
I mean think about it. Atoms are surrounded by a negatively charged electron cloud. Pushing 2 atoms together would be (sorta) like trying to push the like poles of two magnets together.
A sense of humor is a survival trait for negative situations, and those who have one are usually really nice because they know how shitty things can be. That's what I came up with at least.
I used to be like this, but it was a social anxiety thing. People say wrong and insulting things all the time without loosing friends. The key is keeping an open mind and being willing to admit when you're wrong. If your intentions weren't to cause harm, most people will forgive your faux pas.
