@asexualchangeling @runekn yeah I feel like VR around 2019 into early 2020 was the best it would ever be in terms of exciting new releases and games to look forward to. Now it really feels like Meta is completely allergic to advertising the Quest as a games platform and selling games alongside it the way Sony or Nintendo would. Makes it so much harder to get excited about it.

@alyaza it'll be fascinating to see if hackers pull any extra functionality out of it. After the huge legacy of the PSP and Vita its wild to see something so... not that.
I'm sure we can all agree this is at best incredibly misguided and at worst a sign of the further reactionary slide in India.
@darylsun I'm just going to go back to having a cronjob that downloads all my favourite YouTube channels to my jellyfin server. No ads, no deleted videos.
I mean the thing that still trips me up the most is that social media and phones still takes away from other tech stuff that I'd enjoy doing more. When I was younger I used to play a lot of Game Boy Advance and then later PSP. Once I got a phone it became just that little bit more difficult to focus on just enjoying playing games!
Hopefully not as disastrous at the recent Last of Us port though.
@darylsun It's terrible that it feels so hard to *stop* doing something like this when you're a creative individual who wants to promote their work. It feels like there's always this pressure to be promoting your art or else you're not going to get anywhere with it. It's exhausting feeling like this is *how* you're supposed to interact with the internet.
@sexy_peach The day that my phone becomes user-hostile is the day that I drop it to pick up something more open like a PinePhone. I've gone through the headaches of using FOSS stuff before it was ready for prime time before and I can do it again.
@QuentinCallaghan honestly pretty vile vibes from this one; bodycam murder simulator is at the very least politically tonedeaf and at worst actively malicious.
@alyaza Great article. Been in love with Low Tech Magazine ever since I discovered it a year or two ago; it running on solar power is a great exercise in eco-conscious computing (although it can come off as a bit anprim sometimes). Hopefully I'll be able to pick up a bike soon but lately I've been using my skateboard for transit more as the weather has gotten warmer and it's been really fantastic. It's nice having a low-material mode of transportation that can still carry you far.
@nanoUFO Honestly, I am considering picking one up for Starfield, depending on how they perform there. I'm sure their Linux support isn't incredible, but Nvidia also has a lot of issues on Linux and I've been running my 1060 for years now.
