Most aren't. Some great ones do come along still, like Hades, Stray, Elden Ring, or Tears of the Kingdom. The problem is obviously the end goal is to make money, but the methods for making money are infringing more and more on the escapism and games are trying less to hit that fun button and no more to hit the addiction button.

It was a short game but it did more in 8 hours than I've seen some games cover in 60 and I've never felt that invested in wanting to make sure the protagonist is okay

That's the version I played and I strongly recommend the game in whatever form you can get ahold of. It's so wonderful

My wife and I are from California before Ohio, we were making jokes about the sweet nostalgic smell of childhood

I've done sorta this in OhIo, but never with anyone who wants the ruckus part 😭 It's been fun nonetheless

Culver's is my personal pick

Michigan. It's the midwest's hidden treasure for natural beauty.

Soda. But I also moved here from the west coast and held on to soda as it trolled my midwest friends

I love fall. Part of it's probably because I grew up in California and that's the season we never got anything like, but it's also just so comfortable and I love the whole aesthetic.

Stray pulled off AAA quality on a tiny budget using something loved by a lot of people (cat protagonist) but it had a number of advantages, primarily you don't need licensing fees for cats, the dev time was deep into "purely a labor of love" length, and I don't think it came out near any releases of a superior direct competitor. Any adventure epic right now had to contend with FF16 and people still messing around with Tears of the Kingdom.

I take pride in Elon Musk thinking my existence is a slur.

As a redugee I don't necessarily plan to spend much time bashing bc it's a done deal, but I anticipate a lot. Personally I'd rather help the community grow instead of making it the community to bitch about another community.
