After owning many Seiko’s and Japanese watches, I decided to see what the swiss brands are all about. I love this watch. Yes it’s not a moonwatch, but I like that, it makes it a little more unique to me while maintaining that iconic speedy case design. I have a feeling it won’t be my last swiss watch either. I can see an obvious bump in quality even at the more entry level over my other pieces.
Great choice! Is this ref 3210.50? I have the same one in white/silver, ref 3211.30.
These are one of the best values out there imo and immensely overlooked! This are numerous reasons why I picked this over the traditional Moonwatch and honestly like it more.

I’ve got a 17cm/6.7” wrist, and the 40mm fits better than the traditional 42mm Moonwatch.

This watch is automatic, which I find much more convenient for regular wear.
-
I rely on the date function too often and honestly won’t consider a watch without one.

Speaking of date, the 6-9-12 chrono layout with a date function at 3 looks aesthetically better to me than the 3-6-9 layout and a date function embedded within the 6 o’clock subdial or offset between the 3 and 6 o’clock subdials.

these are rated at 10 bar water resistance, compared to 5 bar on the Moonwatch. This increase the versatility and piece of mind wearing it everyday, especially around water in the summer

The movement, a modified Valjoux 7750 is much more serviceable than modern co-axial movements. Don’t get me wrong, coaxial are great, but a the 7750 can be serviced by most watchmakers and for cheaper than co-axial movements, or the stacked movements in the speedy reduced

the Speedy Date has applied indices that really pop in the light and make the watch aesthetically feel more premium to me than the Moonwatch’s pained indices

and you get all of these benefits in your Speedy for around just $2000 +/- $500 depending on condition and if it has box and papers, which is quite a bit cheaper than the traditional Moonwatch goes for
Tbh, the only thing the Moonwatch has over these Speedy Dates imo is the history. If you really care about having the watch closest to the original Moonwatch, the Hesalite Moonwatch is the way to go. But if you just want a quality Omega Chronograph, and care more about function and value over history, the Speedy Dates are hard to beat.
