A good half of these are about high end platted razors, and one rule is don't drop it as if anyone purposely does that. He also says only use mineral oil but I wonder if linseed oil would also work.

And also, if you should happen to drop it, always remember that a falling knife has no handle.

Better to destroy your straight razor than your hand.
