So I'm the strange one here. I hadn't heard this phrase before now. Thanks for the explantations yall.
It’s a pretty common turn of phrase that describes the pricing pretty well. It’s common in the UK at least don’t know about elsewhere in the world.
Canada uses it as well, which is to be expected as we were a British colony.
I've heard it in most parts of the US too (south, midwest, west coast), it's pretty common.
