What if one pan could do everything the best traditional stainless-steel, cast-iron, and nonstick pans can do—and, in some cases, even do it a little better?...

Looking for old school types of boxers that I can wear as pjs and around home. Constructed so my dick won't flap out, and thick enough (the boxers) so I don't feel like I'm putting on a show

Just a reminder that Amazon will promote these fake stores more than real independent stores. If you can not find the store, it's 99% fake. Some of these are Trademarked, you can trace it back to China in some cases. Some are bad, some aren't, still the products won't last forever. These products are build by the cheapest material possible. You don't need a extension, you just need to google these fake stores because they won't put in the effort in making fake websites. The ones that do put in effort are poorly made, a red flag.

So to recap:

  1. Don't buy from Amazon, avoid the problem

  2. Look up fake store, if you found something

  3. Study the website/trademark for clues

I have 3 which I use every day for something or other which is useful - and it's nothing to do with mountain climbing. It's always about creatively hanging bulky objects from the most doggone of places

Screw the ridge wallet, this thing is a beast. With full grain leather and a coated stainless steel body, this wallet is built like an absolute tank.

I just wanted to know if anybody knows of specific kitchen utensil brands that're actually worth buying long-term. Or atleast which ones should be avoided.

I've wasted time checking reviews for various sets and always find concerning ones between the positives.
I really just need a Spoon, Slotted Spoon, (Flexible) Spatula, and Kitchen Tongs.
A Deep Soup Ladle, Whisk, and Pasta Server would just be convenient.
I don't expect a set to have a solid cheese grater, so I'll be buying that separately by default.

Preferences:
I'm trying to avoid exposed metal on the head of the utensils since I'd worry about scratching my pots and pans. Other than that, I've got no preference beyond "non putting toxins or its broken off material in my food". 🤷🏿‍♂️

If this post doesn't work out, I'll just start checking reviews for specific utensils. 😑

I'm considering buying a duffle bag and I've heard good things about the brand, but if it's only good for 4-5 years before degrading then I'd rather get something else.

Are Tom Bihn bags buy it for life, or has the quality dipped in recent years?

Can anyone recommend a set of flip flops that are durable and last a long time? I had another cheap pair break the other day, and I'm looking for something more durable.

Any suggestions for compression socks and other compression garments of similar quality to darn tough socks?

In 2018 I transitioned to wearing regular darn tough socks, and the ones the dog didn't eat are still in good shape. It appears that at one point they did make compression socks, but they no longer do.

They have a blog entry directing people to the brand CEP https://darntough.com/blogs/the-alternate-stitch/compression-socks-supportive-socks

Any other brands worth looking into?

Does anyone have experience using Winco Tri-Gen skillets or sauté pans? My understanding is it's a restaurant focused brand but didn't know how it compared to the likes of Tramontina or All-Clad.

Price wise Winco seems to be similar to Tramontina which performs on par with All-Clad from reviews I've read.

Winco also makes a 14 inch skillet and 7 qt sauté pan which I'm really considering because I'll primarily be using these 2-3 times per week meal prepping. Here are some links to what I've been considering:

https://www.restaurantsupply.com/winco-tgfp-12-stainless-steel-12-3-8-tri-ply-induction-ready-fry-pan

https://www.restaurantsupply.com/winco-tget-6-6-qt-tri-ply-induction-ready-saute-pan-with-cover

https://www.tramontina.com/12-in-tri-ply-clad-stainless-steel-fry-pan-w-helper-handle_80116057/p

https://www.tramontina.com/tri-ply-clad-6-qt-covered-stainless-steel-deep-saute-pan_80116073/p

https://www.all-clad.com/d3-stainless-everyday-3-ply-bonded-cookware-skillet-12-5-inch.html

Edit:

I ended up buying the Tramontino 6 qt sauté pan. I elected for this route over the Winco pan since Tramontino is a consumer facing brand so I figured going through the warranty process would be easier should I ever need it. Biggest difference for me between the two pans would be the drip edge is present on the Winco and not the other.

Hello everyone! Glad to see so many people here!

Maybe a mini-introduction from me? I care a lot about durable products because I am dirt poor, and it's so important for me to have things that last. I also care about the environment, so the less landfill, the better (if this is something you also care about, consider checking out @zerowaste!). Currently typing this on a refurbished mid-2012 MacBook Pro beautifully running MacOS Ventura through OCLP. It's not really showing signs of aging, and I hope I can get many more years out of it, as, well, I am poor, lol (but should I ever acquire $$$$$, I definitely wouldn't mind an upgrade :))

I'm not sure if I plan on continuing to moderate this magazine - I just wanted to move subreddits to the Fediverse, to get a head start.

Any r/BuyItForLife mods here that want to continue moderating? m/BuyItForLife, would you like me to contact the subreddit mods to see if they would like to moderate here? Anyone interested in moderating?

Feel free to also respond with an introduction, why you care about "buy it for life" products, and a "buy it for life" product you own/value! And please, feel free to make posts in this magazine, whether they're questions, products you own, or anything else related to BIFL!

And finally, please be patient with me! I'm currently juggling a million things, both online and irl. Thanks! And once again, welcome!

The BuyItForLife subreddit is trying to figure out what to do with the changes hitting Reddit and some really interesting points about possible attempts to advertise products that aren't really BIFL. Would be great if we could encourage them to come here. Back in the day, this place was producing and selling some of the best value (buy-it-for-life) full grain leather belts. I've had several of their belts which have been worn daily for ~10 years now with plenty of life left in them.

It seems their website has been taken down and there hasn't been much activity since 2018/2019ish.

Did they go out of business?

Bizarrely enough, I also read rumors that the owners became heroin addicts or something, and this may be why the business went under. Anyone know the true story?

Bought this in 2008 and am still using it in 2023. It's compact, durable and has produced great coffee for me, nearly everyday, for the last 15 years. All you need is a kettle and good coffee beans. Add coffee, pour hot water, wait 1 minute then press the plunger to get your morning brew.
