I hope Ernest gets well soon and can pass through all of these stuff, but I must add one point to this:

And finally, I really suggest getting some more admins for the instance.

And, as important as this, letting more people help with Kbin development.

It's impossible to maintain the code and develop new features, while dealing with all his personal life problems (which of course are a priority) and maintaining the instance all at once and almost alone.

Why not getting some help? I know that Ernest already said he has a problem trusting people, but come on, it's visible that this approach is not working and it’s not benefiting anyone.

So I'm willing to replace my physical notebook for my Samsung Galaxy Tab 5, but I'm having trouble finding the exactly app for me.

I need a note taking app with basically 2 features:

  1. Convert handwrite to text
  2. Ability to select the page background (I want to use a daily template that I've already made)

I doesn't expect it to be free, but it would be nice for an app that, at least, offer a free trial.

And it'd be nice if it could sync between devices, specially with my Mac.

Any suggestions?

EDIT:

I saw a lot of people telling about Samsung Notes, but the handwrite to text conversion simply doesn't exist for me. I think it's probably because I'm (still) not using a pen.

Another option would be using the Gboard handwriting feature, but I didn't get used to it. I prefer writing directly at the place that the text needs to be.

That makes sense!

For my basic knowledge working side by side with a lot of devs, I totally agree with the way Ernest thinks. It's essential for a product that's growing up to have a solid core that will not need to be rewrote in the near future.

But also, as an user, I keep wishing we could see more features, like the API for mobile apps.

I mean, besides what Ernest and Melroy thinks that's the right way, there's also what the users need, what the users want and what the project needs to escalate (new features vs core rewriting). And probably there's not a right answer for that.

Honest question: what's the reason to make a fork instead of contributing do kbin itself?

I can't believe it took so many years, but it is finally here!

But these settings are just for the in-site notifications, don't they? I mean, I have some of them checked, but never received a push notification in my browser to don't need to open Kbin every time to check of there's any new interaction

After some time missing an app, I managed to really like Kbin even on my browser, specially with some mods (my favourites are Kbin Usability Pack and Kbin Subscriptions Panel), but I really miss notifications for interactions on my posts and comments.

I think that this would almost solve my problem of don't having an app. Does anyone else feel the same?

I don't wanna be rude, but this answer is the exactly first thing written at Kbin's frontpage, but people always keep asking "why Kbin doesn't have X feature"

Praying to be chosen

Potentially, I could try to add a way to at least export the bookmarks, but that would be quite an extensive amount of work to do.

To be honest, to me it looks like too much work for something that's not a crucial feature. I just asked to understand a bit better what you did there hehe

Hey @Perry! First of all, congrats again for the great work! Ernest should definitely hire you hahaha

I have a question and an UI suggestion:

• Where are the bookmarks stored? I thought it's probably at my browser's cache, so it wouldn't sync between mobile and desktop, right?

• In mobile (at least on Firefox Nightly) the text size of the title and the "No bookmarks" text at the modal looks really huge! My suggestion is to reduce it a little to be more compatible with Kbin's small fonts :)

I didn't know there was a button like that! Where can I find it on Android?

Question: all these permitions are allowed by default? Or the app asks for it and you can allow them or not from Android/iOS permissions, like notifications?

I've noticed that Kbin turns gray the title of the posts that I've already clicked, but it'd be nice if I could just hide the ones I already saw, keeping my "Hot" section always fresh with new content.

Is there any script that can do this?

YOU'RE AWESOME!

I saw that the test instances have some nice new features that are not still released for kbin.social.

So I was thinking that it'd be nice to know when things are being updated here and what have changed.
Is there any place I can see this?

I know that we NEED more content at Kbin, Lemmy and all the Fediverse in order for them to grow and substitute Reddit and other networks, but sometimes I just feel really happy that I can open my app and read almost everything that was posted in the last few hours without being suffocated by a billion of new posts.

It controls my anxiety, helps me keep up to date and even makes me want to search for new content and post/interact more.

EDIT: For example, at Instagram, there's so much content being posted every second, that I never spend more than 5 minutes with the app open.

I already understood that, for now, the Kbin upvote not really upvote a post/comment and to do so, I need to boost it.

But, how do Lemmy (and possibly other sites from Fediverse) deal with this difference?

For example:
If I boost a Lemmy post in Kbin, it'll count as an upvote on Lemmy? Or do I need to upvote it when it's a cross-post from another Fediverse?
And how does Lemmy understand a boost in post at Kbin?
Also, if someone at Lemmy upvote my post in Kbin, it'll count as an upvote or as a boost?
