Eh, the big reason is that if the changes are by a non-maintainer they will get caught in the PR if it’s malicious. If not, then it’s up to auditing. I do tend to audit smaller software that I use, nothing like firefox, but I read through a ton of stuff before running it.

Set up Prowlarr or Jackett and you can have the torrents from all major indexers without having to use their spooky sites.

There’s programs to download music at 320kbps if you get premium. Try it for a month and download everything you want maybe? That’s something along the lines of what I’ve been planning on doing, although my library is already quite large.
Only if your vpn supports port forwarding. Only a few do, so you’d need something like (I think PIA still works, but it’s kinds hacky) AirVPN, or IVPN. You could also go the easier route of just using a reverse proxy that you host or cloudflare proxy, running your own vpn/ssh tunnel or using something like ngrok tunneling or cloudflared (cloudflare tunnels).
Yeah, those two squares tend to have a pretty smooth gradient between the two. People who are progressive FOSS enthusiasts tend to like some of the “more traditional” stuff in reality too.
Most subs have already extended it indefinitely “until things change”
Reddit is protesting too by blacking out the whole site lol
LOL I didn’t realize. Thanks for pointing it out.
Lemmy has everything I need now :p ⚡️💀
Yes, you're in the wrong section. You are looking at dedicated servers, and they are talking about VPS'. You can find them at https://www.hetzner.com/cloud, /u/Mallias was speaking about the CPX31 (under "Shared vCPU (x86)")
If you look at the email screenshot it’s from sdf.org. They’re pretty awesome and I’m guessing it’s just some sort of oversight. OP should just send them an email and I’m sure they’d resolve it.
