I used the top karma holders lists to remove their posts from my feed since it was usually people posting the same thing in multiple subs. I would often have only a few posts before the marker for page 2 would show up.
I know this is on at least some if not all of the app developers roadmaps but unfortunately it's going to take some time since most of them are simply working on getting a working app out the door right now. If you have any developer chops then you should definitely submit some pull requests or get active in the Matrix chatroom to help make those features a reality faster.
I'm pretty sure this is a known issue. Kbin was essentially in a beta state with a pretty small user base before the reddit exodus and Eustace has this on his long list of things to fix. You might try viewing the same magazine in Lemmy and seeing if it's displayed the same way as an experiment.
Google still runs a good chunk of my life and some of it I know I could use some of the great alternatives that others have mentioned but some of it I'm not really sure about.
Namely:
Maps
Messenger (web browser access to my texts)
Contact sync and backup
Google voice
And all the various services that let my phone operate...
