Hi All, for my property i don‘t need Wifi 6 but do need 12 access points to cover everything. Originally, I was looking at Unify AP AC Pro (Wifi 6). They cost around 140 USD and would have all the functionality that I need. While shopping, I found that used Cisco AIR-CAP1702I can be had for around 20 USD. These are also Wifi 5. Is there any catch? I also want to selfhost the controller in a VM. Does Cisco charge for it?

You need a license for Cisco / Meraki APs

The UniFi AC Pro is WiFi 5 only. It’s still a solid AP and well worth deploying.

I'm running WiFi 5 (is that what we're calling 802.11ac these days?) Omada gear, works pretty well.
