I deleted them all from my phone. I decided reddit had moved on into the type of company I no longer wanted to support. I deleted all of my comments, deleted the apps from my phone, logged back in and deleted my comments again, deleted all of their history and cookies from Firefox, and haven't been back. Even if they fixed the current issues and reopened the public api, what they were already willing to do to their community shows what they are as a business. They will no longer get my clicks, my visits, or my ad revenue.

Im fine with Reddit, too. What I meant by the post was hoping that Apollo will work with Lemmy.
Have you tried WefWef? I'm an android guy but I hear it's very apollo-esque
Thanks, I’m using it now. I’m surprised a web app can work so well and feel like a native app.
this is the way
I still have RIF. I know it will not come back, and reddit is not the same comunity that was when I joined (+10 years ago).
But it was an important part of my life, and deleting it seems like closing a door or move on from that age.
Sometimes I still forgot and try to open it anyway
Yes... and a couple of other old favorites.
I kind of love that you have a folder for these dead apps. I loved using all of these!
I kinda forget how I transitioned between alien blue, the official app, then Apollo, but the hours I’ve spent on it.
Reddit Is Fun is still working for me in my phone for whatever reason. I'm logged out, and I kept waiting for it to stop working but as of typing this on July 4th, it still loads content. No idea why it still works (I didn't patch it) or if it'll stop working any day now.
How long until my muscle memory changes and I’m not trying to tap on the spot where Apollo used to be every day?
I’ve already put a Lemmy so there. Apollo is in my app drawer.
I'm not uninstalling it also. It's a memorial to the good times and to remind me not to visit reddit.
I still have RIF on my phone. Looks like it still works for browsing but no login. I've been using it much less though
There is apparently a Revanced patch available for it to make it fully work again, but you have to set up your own API key for it.
(It gets around the rate limits by pretending each user has their own application)
I still have Boost on my phone and it's still working. (Reddit realized that turning off the old API was more complex than they thought and it'll take another few days to weeks to turn off.)
Once it stops working, I'll uninstall it. Thankfully, the developer of Boost for Reddit is working on Boost for Lemmy. So hopefully I'll be reinstalling Boost soon - and staying here.
I've kept RIF, but set an app usage time limit of 0 minutes. So it's still there, but permanently greyed out, like a memorial to what once was.
I haven't deleted BaconReader yet. Taking it off my home screen about a month ago was painful enough, after twelve years of it always being there. I checked it today and it still works if you're not logged in, have not logged in because I deleted my Reddit account, but there's a popup about it being discontinued and the link to it on the Play store is dead. Somehow that makes it even harder for me to go ahead and delete it, even though I need more space on my phone.
That’s how I feel about Apollo. Thanks for letting me know that it is not just me.
I still use Infinity, as it still works perfectly for me.
Same here. I'm pretty surprised about that.
It's temporary. Infinity's developer is working with admin to create a subscription app and pay API fees. There are a few doing that (Boost and a few others). They've been given some sort of a temporary exemption pending update rollout. You can see posts explaining this in their subreddits.
I still have Relay Pro on my phone, even though I no longer have a Reddit account. I just want to hang on to it for a while for no good reason.
Same, I don’t intend to use Reddit anymore. Just feels like getting rid of a friend 😂
That's it! I don't want to get rid of my helpful, little buddy. 😄
Yeah I still have bacon reader on my phone. I have no hope spez will reverse this decision, I just want to keep it for old times sake.
Yeah, I've had BR on my phone for over a decade. I'm going to hold onto it for nostalgia as long as I can.
If you have Android there is a way to patch and still use 3rd party Reddit apps using ReVanced Manager. I'm still able to use BaconReader after patching it and it works great. It seems to be faster too.
That’s interesting, but I’m done with Reddit. I guess what I mean by the post was that there would be a surprise update so it magically works with Lemmy.
Yeah, but I moved the icon so it’s no longer on my main screen. I haven’t been back to reddit in weeks, and probably never will.
Yeah I still have RIF on my phone and tablet. Partially as a memorial to what was and on the extremely outside chance it will work again.
I use for long time RedReader and it is one of 2 apps still working. When the update comes I will uninstall it.
In my understanding, RedReader will continue working.
Yes but for how long. It is only matter of time it will be ditched as well.
I don't think so. Reddit is making exception for 3rd party apps with accessibility features, so RedReader should be exempt from paying to use the API. Or this is what its developer said.
I used to use Joey for reddit, but uninstalled it before July, to avoid being tempted back to reddit. Enjoying lemmy so far though.
I got rid of mine and the reddit account. So much for a decade of my life.
The only reason I’m keeping my Reddit account is that they did not require an email to create the account. If ever they require it I will delete it. Maybe they will pull a Twitter and require an account. You never know when you will need the info posted there.
Still have boost installed. Haven't started it since the 11:th though.
To be honest, I'm not sure I'll always boycott reddit though I doubt I'd ever use it daily as before. There's still a goldmine of useful info over there (unless it's been edited or removed by it's users) that you end up finding when having any sort of tech related issue.
I also only plan to use it if I need a question answered and I can’t easily find the answer elsewhere.
I still do actually. Stealth scrapes the old.reddit.com, and as long as that works, I'll use it if I need to.
I still have sync because I assume i'll be able to import my settings into sync for lemmy.
Still using Boost because it still works. I do a lot less scrolling though and really only visit subs that don't have a fediverse counterpart.
I still have boost on my phone but only so I can see what subs I was subscribed to, I have the app blocked from connecting to the internet
That’s exactly how I feel, but I was embarrassed to say it 😂 Thank you for putting those words out there.
I used ReVanced to compile Boost with my own API key. I know that will only last as long as the Reddit API itself doesn't introduce any breaking changes, but it's working for now.
The same thing can be done with Sync, but I really only need 1.
I still have Apollo installed, probably out of nostalgia. I also still have Tweetbot and Twitterrific installed…
I have infinity and will keep as long as it works. I blocked all updates for it
