This comic is part of an ongoing story that might make more sense with full context.

First comic in this story
Previous comic in this story
Next comic in this story
If you want to read the whole thing in one go, it's easiest on my site.
(These are "newest first", so start at the end and work backwards.)

Throughout October, I'll be drawing a piece of Konsi art every day as a Drawtober challenge. Here's the prompts I'll be using.

You can find the art on Mastodon, Tumblr, Bsky, or Twitter. First two are best.

This is a surprisingly smart read for Xanathar's Guild thieves.

In tomorrow's comic, Konsi's going to be standing significantly further back than she is here. This is because ~~Drawing people standing far apart and talking to each other is difficult without using perspective, which I'm bad at, so I put them close together for this first panel~~ during the last panel, Konsi backed up several paces while they were arguing.

What about making the panel more zoomed out? Would that make it harder or easier to draw than using perspective?

Oh yeah, I can draw a zoomed out panel, but... there's a lot of competing factors in comic design here.

A lot of the visual identity of a comic like this is in the character designs, and a lot of the emotion and body language is conveyed in close up. If I show a zoomed out panel, I can't really convey any details of the characters, either in their outfit or their expression. The leader is also a "new character" so... it's important to let the audience get a good look at him a few times to get used to him.

But this is missing the forest for the trees a bit here. What happened was I drew this comic like this, because it's best for dialogue, and I drew the next one spread out because it's best for action, and made a continuity error due to a technical mistake.

Smart robbers. Did they go to robber college?

[–] ahdok@ttrpg.network 29 points 1 year ago

They're members of the Xanathar's Guild in Waterdeep (the yellow accessories are a mark of this!) - so yes... they sort of did go to robber college.

Gives some real Sword Art Online Abridged vibes.

Omg I have to know how this goes! Draw faster! Hahaha

[–] ahdok@ttrpg.network 23 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Bad news on that front... :( These are from my archive, I draw about one every two weeks normally.

It’s ok, I’m just invested in the story! Can’t wait to see the next one!

I love this comic so much! I just got my lemmy set up, but up until then, my partner was sending me the update everyday 🥰

I missed a few episodes. How did the new girlfriend end up as a rabbit?

[–] ahdok@ttrpg.network 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

(If you want to catch up, there's links back under the image)

TLDR: Konsi and Razira decided they wanted to go somewhere quieter, so they decided to ditch the rest of the party, but in order to sneak away they went into the washroom at the back of the Tavern. (Toron has scoped the place out and knows there's no back exit.) - Konsi then polymorphed Razira into a rabbit so she'd be small enough to ride along with a casting of Dimension Door.

Lol, wow! Thanks for the quick catch up. Great series, BTW!
