Dems have tried ~~nothing~~ genocide and they're all out of ideas

[–] _cryptagion@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Well, if it didn't work this time, maybe it will later. There's always more brown people to murder for profit!

[–] MisterScruffy@lemmy.ml 5 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

It won't win elections but it will keep the money rolling in and that's all that most dem politicians really care about

[–] _cryptagion@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 22 hours ago

Hey, even if you lose an election, that's still a good chance to turn a profit. Those pussy hats and rainbow flags basically print money! Just tell any white person they're being "an ally", and they eat that shit up!

Maybe democrats should start selling NFTs, and tell people that for each one they buy, they're adopting some migrant kid who's sitting in one of the concentration camps Biden never shut down.

A technical note: they need to sort their communication out earlier, by the midterm congressional election. Apparently, their communication didn't reach the voters, and voters were in a mood for hearing sweet lies from a criminal oligarch. They need to think of how to change that...

US society needs to somehow withstand 2 years of Trump running loose.

One can also hope that some senators or representatives are old enough to retire (or courageous enough to defect), changing the composition of the Congress before that. That might prevent or slow Trump from steamrolling new laws into force, until something has been figured out.

[–] djsoren19@yiffit.net 2 points 21 hours ago

Yeah, Trump is stupid, but he's also self-centered. He's gonna care about making himself a dictator eventually, but he's got a lot of vengeance to start with. I don't think it's unreasonable to hope that we'll still have elections by 2026, and that there'll be a moment to throw a stick in the spoke.

[–] _cryptagion@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 23 hours ago

They have their shit together. This is how they operate. Next election will be more of exactly the same.

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 29 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Obviously they’ll run the election Russian-style, as Americans still like to think of themselves as free.

[–] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 21 points 2 days ago

What's wrong with a one party system? It's only one less then two! You wouldn't want to confuse the voters would you? /$

[–] Commiunism 17 points 2 days ago

To be fair, them getting their shit together would be good regardless if there's another legitimate election in the future

There will be. A Turkey style election. Or maybe russia style depending on if democratic-led states find the spine to stand against a tyrannical federal government. We're about to see if this "federalism" really mean anything.

Well, no, it's the Beaverton.

[–] altima_neo@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 days ago

We can only hope the dictator passes of old age before anything crazy happens.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 21 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Hell, there's not going to be a 2026 election.

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 23 points 2 days ago

There will be, in the same way that they have elections in Russia and Turkey.

[–] 603@lemmy.cafe 0 points 2 days ago (3 children)

This has "Obama is going to send all conservatives to FEMA camps" vibes. Like you guys are just as crazy as the QNuts at this point.

And since I have to say this, yes I voted for Harris.

[–] Zink@programming.dev 2 points 2 days ago

Did Obama stand in front of supporters and TV cameras and say all the conservatives will end up in camps?

Because I’ve definitely seen Trump stand in front of supporters and TV cameras and say this is the last time we’ll need to vote.

[–] Kalysta@lemm.ee 2 points 2 days ago

I’m sure members of the Weimar Republic thought this too.

When a fascist tells you something, BELIEVE THEM.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 2 points 2 days ago

I'm sure that the guy who convinced a fuck ton of people - including elected and appointed officials - that an election was "stolen" from him, and fomented an actual violent coup attempt, and who has openly mused about using the Insurrection Act to put US military boots on US soil to enact his policies, and who is now president elect, with full control of all three branches of government, would never think of mashing those two together and "postponing" the midterm elections because "even the US military is unable to keep these elections from being stolen."

Wow, I sure was being crazy, I feel so much better now.

[–] joyjoy@lemm.ee 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

In 2028, the Democrats won't even be on the ticket, and most of America still won't vote third party.

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'd like to see Bernie try to spin up a third party; not for himself to run for office, but just to divorce from the DNC and give leftist politicians a fighting chance using his name/approval.

[–] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 days ago

State level electoral reform first?

[–] vga@sopuli.xyz 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I think this should be a good way to win back money from failed Harris bets. I'd dare to put some money on a bet that there is going to be elections in 2028 and Trump is not going to be a candidate.

One of those win/everythingsfucked kind of bets.

[–] Kalysta@lemm.ee 1 points 2 days ago

Well. He’s super old and eats like shit. There is a good chance he won’t be the nominee because he dies in office.

Don’t bet JD Vance won’r be on the ticket though

[–] PlainSimpleGarak@lemm.ee 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

What? Why wouldn't there be?

[–] ipkpjersi@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

People are thinking it might be a Russian-style election.

[–] PlainSimpleGarak@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

🙄

What people? The multitudes that comprise the user base of social media? Normal people aren't thinking that.

Then why didn't it happen in 2020? This is getting ridiculous.

[–] Zombie@feddit.uk 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] PlainSimpleGarak@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's not even close to the same thing. One is the accusation that a sitting president would ensure there will not be another election implying he would hold office until he chooses otherwise.

Your link is about a bunch of rednecks trying to interrupt the confirmation of a person who was already elected to be the next president (which means the election already took place).

There are plenty of genuine reasons to shit on Trump. Stick to the truth.

Because trump has promised to be a dictator from day one and has a court that will allow it?

[–] PlainSimpleGarak@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago

I'll tell ya what. In four years, if he deconstructs our form of government, uses the military to silence his opponents, and proclaims himself god king of Merica, I'll eat my words.

But we both know nothing even approaching that will happen. He'll talk shit, use Twitter as he poops, then talk some more shit. Fin.
