Maybe this will (briefly) stop the export of stolen cars.

the increases they're asking for probably don't make up for the high inflation in the recent past. Particularly if inflation, as measured for consumers at that income level, doesn't stay at 2% or less for the next 4 years.

Isn't this the port that's turning a blind eye to massive amounts of stolen vehicles leaving Canada? If so, then I for once won't be taking the union's side on this. Fuck those guys.

Why do you think a union would be involved in moving stolen vehicles, especially in any sort of decision-making capacity (ie, deciding to support this type of crime)? Is there any evidence to support your allegations of criminal activity?

Have you ever worked a union job? If there is something shady going on the union has their fingers in it.

However, unions are a necessary evil given the incredibly disproportionate power employers have over their employees.

Not the person who replied to you, but yes I've worked a union job, and your accusation is still wild.

You think the workers know what's in the containers, but management doesn't?

I personally know someone who works there and your assumptions are wrong.

And if you knew how the company treats it's employees and what they have to put up with, you'd support their union.

I've read several articles about this but have yet to read about their demands.

If anyone has an article that enumerates them, please share it with me.
