Autumn (fall). Many of the most interesting crops are just being harvested. The weather is not too hot and the life-sucking nor' westers have ceased. Days are mild and settled, sometimes punctuated by brief storms (I like thunderstorms). Some days have that crisp, clear air that signifies winter is on the way, and you use it as an excuse to light the fire for the first time and cosy up. That our fungus friends also feel this way about Autumn is just the icing on the cake.
