It's used for HPLC analysis, where a lot of ports are needed to connect all the little tentacles of the machine

Yep. But the cheaper alternative is a regular bottle with one cap that has multiple ports for the tubes.

So ..... either attach a tube to direct the flow ... or just place the bottle at the right angle and just free base it?
