Trying to read/watch/etc a little on it to try to establish a vague food swap with friends. Specifically no cash.

Nobody is rich enough to engage in unilateral mutual aid/donations.

Are you looking strictly for bartering systems or would a Local Exchange Trading System (LETS) work?

Any idea if they generally do receipts? Couldnt find info on that via google

I don't recall receipts from the scheme that I was involved with. It was a while back though, and unfortunately that one didn't last too long: no-one wanted to get into "debt", which I understand is a common problem in getting them off the ground.
