Turn off tips? (infosec.pub)

Is there any way to turn off the random tips like "make a receipts folder!" in the Linux desktop app?

I am alone... or not? I don't know if it's a bug just for me or not... but anyone already have issues with TOP using ProtonPass?

Currently I can't use TOTP codes generated from ProtonPass on wesites like Lemmy.ml, Infomaniak, my CheckMK instance, and few others...

I put them on Proton Pass and Aegis, 'cause I don't want to put my Proton account 2FA in Proton Pass for security. So as I'm using Aegis, I put all of them into it too. But Proton TOTP code results as erros and Aegis one (which are differents) are ok... I was thinking about SHA256 and SHA1 but don't seems to be the reason...

Thanks and if your are in the case, don't worry... You're not alone!

Keuzes.

For some reason I have it in the back of my mind that they were at one point accused of being a honeypot for US intelligence because of their association with MIT. Probably complete BS, but maybe not. Are they as open source as they claim to be? Looks like they're on github. F-Droid seems to think they have some Google libraries or whatever that they use.

ProtonMail users, how do you like/dislike it?

does proton mail have any thoughts or comments about joining the post quantum cryptography alliance? https://pqca.org/

In a perfect world, I shouldn’t be getting any spam at all to my PM accounts, but the address got leaked in a Shopify breach, so it’s something I have to live with. And PM does a respectable at filtering it out.

However, I’d like to go a step further. I still glance through my spam to make sure I’m not discarding any false positives and think that with a filter, I can eliminate up to 50% just on keywords alone. Except filters don’t seem to apply anything in the Spam folder.

Would be nice to have the option with filters to include that folder.

That’s all. Thanks!

Would love to be able to use my protonmail account from Thunderbird I don't know if this is possible due to the encryption.

The inbox (or whatever box you are currently viewing) can be shrunk or enlarged, but I do not get the resize cursor for the far left panel. Nor do I see a way to collapse it. Is there something in settings that I am overlooking that would allow me to minimize this panel?

E.g. label all emails from amazon as "shopping" or all emails from your sibling as "family"?

Apparently when you subscribe to a lower tier plan such as the one month one, the amount you paid (minus what you already "used") will be deducted from the upgrade price if you decide to commit for a longer amount of time.

This is great for people like me who want to try out all the features (including custom domains, Proton Bridge and SimpleLogin) without having to commit for one or two years and without having to pay the 65% higher price of the monthly plan.
I had already accepted the fact that I'd need to pay the monthly fee but this is a much appreciated gesture!

Transitioning to PM (and generally speaking, to Proton For Everything) from Gmail, I was following the manual when I realised that PM wanted to replace my privately-owned, with mailbox service included, mail address.

What I've been doing for 15 years was hide a gmail adress behind my own domain name (quality of apps, quantity of storage, general user friendliness...); people would still see me as me@me.me, but I had the convenience of that google service while writing"as" me@me.

It also offered me a layer of safety, since downtime does happen, and hopping to the poor roundcube webmail interface of my hosting company allowed me to keep business as usual. Believe it or not, google has failed more often than that regional service provider. lol.

Now to the question: Am I right to understand PM will dutifully catch all emails to me@me.me, the DNS settings will kill my old-school IMAP mailbox to push them towards me@proton.me, and I will have to commit to trust Proton 99.95% (their current SLA for customers like me)?

Will I loose that last line of defense, Roundcube Webmail straight from my private provider?

Thanks is advance. For obvious reasons, I'm not on twitter, reddit & all that.

Anyone else get it?

Appears to work well so far. It uploaded four 20GB veracrypt volumes for me and synced down ~100GB of files I had on Drive.

I'm not thrilled with the fact that I couldn't select what would be synced down, but I suppose that feature may come at a later date.
