Why Whatsapp media in ios settings is taking much more space than Whasapp is telling me inside the app?

The past few days while using my iPhone 14 Pro the Lock Screen has been sliding down on its own. I am able to swipe I up and continue what I am doing. The time between instances of it happening appears random. I have tried cleaning the screen, I do have a tempered glass screen protector that has been on it since mid December. There is no damage on the screen itself or the protector.

This is my first iPhone since the 3. I got this one new this month last year.

Has anyone here had this happen and found a fix?

Update: after updating it appears to have stopped happening... So far.

Is there a way to turn off Live Photos in bulk (i.e., remove it from multiple photos in the app after taking)?

Opened instagram to watch some new reels and the keyboard was up and I could not get it to go away. Tapping on the reel just muted it. Going out of Instagram and back in did nothing. I am coming from android and on the google keyboard (gboard) there is a button on the bottom right where iOS’ microphone is that will minimize the keyboard.

The Foxconn factory located in Sriperumbudur is gearing up to roll out the latest iPhone 15 models.

iPhone 15 production in India depends on the stock of imported components and the ramp-up of production lines at the Foxconn plant near Chennai.

Other Apple suppliers in India, such as Pegatron and a Wistron facility soon to be acquired by the Tata Group, are also expected to join the iPhone 15 production machine.

Does anyone know why in some Apple Photos albums I can not create a memory?

I created an album with my new trip photos but I can not create any memories from it (I am on iOS 17 beta though, would that be the problem?), some of my older albums can play memories.

As compared to android, PWAs created with Safari browser don’t function well. Any other browser recommendation to run PWAs effectively on iPhone/iPad?

I was looking for an app to alert me to low battery levels across various of my iOS devices. Although coconutBattery looked good, it is macOS only, and I only power my Macbook up occasionally. So I looked at a good four iOS app options, and there is no perfect one that does everything perfectly. I also discarded anything that was updated more than a year ago. I installed across my iPhone, iPad and Watch. You can view the battery levels from any device’s app, for all the devices.

PowerToYou covers iPhone, iPad (and iPencil found under Bluetooth devices), Watch, AirPods (added as a Bluetooth device). What I like is that it has a good widget layout, clearly showing the percentages and time last updated for each device. You can set notifications globally for any device falling below, or going above (to prevent full cycle charging), a percentage charged. Adding the AirPods on my iPhone, made them show up on the iPad’s app just fine. The widget expanded to show the AirPods. It also has some choices for Watch complications. The app was last updated Feb 2022, and has an active Discord support community. Download from https://apps.apple.com/us/app/powertoyou/id1558154409.

Cloud Battery covers the same devices as PowerToYou (but says AirPods can no longer be monitored this way, and did not detect them), but it also detected and showed my Apple Pencil battery level. Its widgets fall a bit short though as they are nice but fail to show any percentage level or time last updated. However, a quick press on the widget opens the app, which shows the percentages. Another quick press on an individual device, shows when the charge level was last updated, rename the device, and set a device specific alert fop passing below or above a certain percentage level. Cloud Battery also allows you to customise the colours of widget text and icons. App was last updated Jan 2022. Download from https://apps.apple.com/us/app/cloud-battery/id1480648069.

“Charged?” is a small app that allows you to check the charge level of your iOS and macOS devices via iCloud. I did briefly use it, and it shows battery percentages with last updated, for iPhone, iPad and macOS. It does lack some of the extra features the apps above have, and was last updated in March 2021.

Battery Status Overview does not work with macOS, but works on iPad, iPhone and Watch. It also has a lot fewer settings and more basic graphics, but does include a charge history log. They only mention alerts for the battery charge level reaching 100%. The app was last updated in Dec 2021, and only has one review rating, though.

Apple’s built-in battery widget is great, but it ONLY shows local devices, so no overview of all your other devices.

So I am a bit torn between PowerToYou and Cloud Battery. I’m leaning more towards PowerToYou as the widget has everything clearly shown. Cloud Battery’s plus is its ability to set a different minimum and maximum battery percentage for each device separately.

I’ll post any updates about this topic at my blog post at https://gadgeteer.co.za/powertoyou-and-cloud-battery-amongst-other-apps-both-display-battery-levels-of-your-other-apple-devices/.

I've been using a Chargie for the last two years on my Android phone (my wife is now using it) and loved that it is a hardware device that shuts off the charging at a user set percentage. It does this by monitoring the battery and temperature via the app running on the phone.

This type of battery charge limiting was exclusively the reserve of rooted phones before the Chargie came along. Yes iOS 14.5 has optimised charging, but that still charges the battery up to 100% which is a full charge cycle. So finally the Chargie is now available for iOS devices, and I've just ordered mine.

With the glued in non-replaceable batteries of today this device at $35 plus shipping is just worth it to me. The manufacturing has improved the quality further to prevent corrosion on the PCB inside which just means the device should be a once-only purchase.

I know the LiDAR scanner is used for face ID and detection, and also for scanning depth for camera focus etc, but I did not realise it can also be used for real 3D colour scans to very easily create 3D objects for games, CAD, or other uses. Using the 3d Scanner App (link below) it allows sharing via iMessage (in AR), OBJ, GLTF, GLB, STL, Point Cloud, Sketchfab, or DAE (for Sketchup). These objects are accurate enough to be true to scale and measurements.

The iPhone needs to have a LiDAR sensor for this to work, but any phone or computer can view the 3D image and allow you to zoom in, rotate, pan, etc. A good cross-platform app for this is MadView3D. Do a search "iphone lidar 3d scans" to see many example videos of what a scan looks like.

Yes you can do great 3D scans of someone's head too and then rotate them around etc (Harry Potter style). You can also use some formats to print the "object" out on a 3D printer. Many of these iOS apps charge subscriptions, but the one below seems to be completely free and pretty fully featured.

Widgets are rather weak on iOS in terms of lots of options e.g. you get basic activity rings for Health but no large step counter option. So this is where Widgetsmith comes in by offering a few extra options for widgets and all that I needed were included free without premium subscription required. I was looking for a step counter widgets and a day of the week and date widget. You can further customise the widgets, and don't forget that iOS 14 does allow stacking of widgets too.

It's not very intuitive for beginners as to how to add widgets using Widgetsmith, so the article below gives some guidance.
