Make no mistake, they will certainly try to capture the standard under their exclusive influence, just like Google has done with everything web related.

"Temporary" in corpo-speak means permanent if it generates profit and there-were-some-technical-issues if it doesn't, so this is just Felon Muskrat testing the waters.
Definitely agree with the sentiment in the comment.
Though, how ironic is it that this post might as well have been generated by a bot?
Literally a screenshot of a comment without attribution and with an account 2 hours old...
I'm no C expert, so take this with a grain of salt, but wouldn't any reasonable optimizing compiler remove the constant check at compile-time?
Of course, this is not guaranteed and depends on the compiler flags, so preproc should be preferred if compile-time is desired.
I think she forgot the "/s" from her bio.
I mean, no sane person would use this corporate buzzword salad as their bio, right?

I'd dare to say people don't choose Windows, it is forced on them by having it preinstalled and that seals the deal for most. Your average Joe Sixpack would likely not even notice they are using Linux, since most just browse the internet and the major browsers are the same for both.
Well, Valve is a privately held company with a management that has a longer term vision than the next quarterly profits, so there's that. Make it public and let the MBAs in and it'll become shit in no time, which I sincerely hope will never happen.
Because the other 90% goes to rent or mortgage, right?
The cynic in me screams that this post is to stir up FUD because someone at BigSocial is shitting their pants right now... :D (/s?)
But yes, you have some valid points but stretching too thin is not going to get us anywhere and will just result in people leaving due to lack of content. Remember that divide and conquer is a valid tactic too, so having many small instances isn't going to magically shield us from Bad Things (TM).
So... this is what hell was referring to all along?
