There's probably a YouTuber that already does that, but lord knows they are probably biased in one direction or another. I miss purely factual reporting.

That's probably the most sane way to approach politics these days. Check in once in awhile. Seeing it all day every day would drive anyone insane. And clearly it has for many people.

We should start a news service that gives you a summa of the week or something. So people can stay somewhat informed but not have it ruin every waking moment of their days...

Yeah if you avoid political subs and political topics in general Lemmy is great. But if you sort by Lemmy's version of "r/all" it's almost all political stuff and the comments are all primally unidirectional.

I mean.... he ain't exactly wrong. Lemmy IS primarily far left users at the moment. Some of them extremely left.

Like I understand that this particular user didn't really give it a fair shake, but lets not pretend those comments are wrong about that specific aspect of Lemmy. I have observed that you generally cannot have nuanced discussions on a myriad of topics on lemmy as there is a "right" and "wrong" stance in the eyes of the majority here.

Some of y'all are so far left that anyone even a millimeter to the right of you is seen as the second coming of Adolf himself.

Now obviously I understand that Lemmy isn't homogeneous, but it definitely has a majority user base that leans so far left it's pretty much laying on the ground at this point.

Thats just my 2¢ as left leaning moderate.

I'm not defending this behavior but keeping up with inflation games that cost 60 bucks in the early 90s would cost well over 120 today.

I know they don't do physical media as much or at all in some cases.

I'm just pointing out that technically 80 bucks for a game is still a good ways behind inflation.

Not defending it. Just pointing it out.

Wait I thought those movies were finished.

I will admit I never read the books or saw any of the movies after the first one, but I thought they had ran their course and finished?

Is this a spin off or are they gonna drag out a 34 year old Jennifer Lawrence to play a teenager again?

I have a base amount of trust/distrust I assign to everyone. Some people go up in trust and some people go down, but nobody is completely trustworthy. Even my parents have lied to me and hurt me in the past. I love them and trust them more than most people but I still know they are absolutely capable of betraying me.

I see what you're saying... It's still comic sans adjacent and it bugs me.

My father uses it on everything and he teaches 1st grade so I just associate comic sans with kids. I used to help out a lot in his classroom growing up.

Seeing stuff like "rape" written in a font that my brain has tied to small children is unpleasant.

Of all the fonts in the world why is it always comic sans...

[–] MoreFPSmorebetter@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I mean you are making sense. I still don't see the issue with keeping a little bit in reserve for those potentialities.

How? Anyone you know could betray you at any moment for various reasons. Simply because it's unlikely doesn't mean it's impossible.

Not sure if this is even possible but I am new here and I figured out that sorting "everything" by recent comments generally seems to be the best way to get new stuff that's getting talked about still, but it also appears to include brand new posts that come from bots that have zero comments and while I'm not against those posts I prefer to see stuff that has other users actively engaging in the comments as opposed to empty comment sections on bot posts.
