Is it normal to start reading a book but then suddenly realize that you have no idea what's going on in the plot because you have been reading the words but ignoring their meaning? in c/nostupidquestions@lemmy.world

I do this with everything from reading to watching youtube videos etc. I have to pay special attention to really understand what I'm even reading/watching sometimes. My goldfish memory doesn't help at all
