In the end, I got an S23 which receives (presumably) four years of major revision support plus another two years of security patches, which is still much more than Sony is willing to promise.

I had an Xperia Z, which I was supposed to be able to patch with custom roms. Too bad that while that generally worked, Sony locked the camera to its own software which then fell back to a much inferior mode, meaning you had to decide between updates or shitty pictures, which was a deal breaker for me and had me update to an S10e back then.

The Xperia 5 is a skinny 6.1" & many consider it to be a small phone option in 2024.

I know. It's still too big. I was this close to switching to apple just for their iPhone mini range, but that got discontinued as well. My S23 is something like 6 or 6.1 as well. It's only usable because Samsung has a better one handed mode than default android or Apple.

Was going to get a Sony. Then I saw their update roadmap... 2 years of major updates and another one for security patches, that was it. Noped out because of that. I'd like a headphone jack and an sd card slot, but I'd like even more to keep such an expensive device for more than three years.

Also, their phones are too big, but that's an issue for every single manufacturer.

I doubt the actual "feature" is much more than a single line that tells GDAL to translate it from one format to the next, so the real thing here is the convenience of having a webpage that provides this special case as a service. Geojson is easy to read in essentially every language now, so this shouldn't have been hard to do even before this website.

The "5-dimensional" descriptor is only a marketing term, since the device has 3 physical dimensions and no exotic higher dimensional properties. The fractal/holographic nature of its data storage is also purely 3-dimensional. The size, orientation and three-dimensional position of the nanostructures comprise the so-called five dimensions.

In this case, the 5 dimensions inside of the discs are the size and orientation in relation to the 3-dimensional position of the nanostructures. The concept of being 5-dimensional means that one disc has several different images depending on the angle that one views it from, and the magnification of the microscope used to view it.

So, it's supposedly three dimensions of position plus angle and (maybe?) polarity. So, it seems to be more than just a marketing gimmick, but I can't find any information about the resolution of those additional two parameters, so I can't tell if a single voxel stores two bits or two terabits.

Der schlechtere Wirkungsgrad entsteht bei H2-Antrieben nicht weil die unterforscht sind sondern ist eine physikalisch nicht zu vermeidende Eigenschaft der Syntheseprozesse. Grüner Wasserstoff wird durch Elektrolyse hergestellt, die Brennstoffzelle wandelt ihn dann wieder zurück in Strom um. Bei jeder Umwandlung geht immer Energie in Form von Hitze verloren, auch hier. Elektroautos sind so effizient, weil sie eben solche Umwandlungsprozesse nicht brauchen (bis auf den zum Schluss, von Strom in kinetische Energie, der ja aber im H2-Auto genauso stattfindet). Das hat also nichts mit veraltet oder so zu tun, das ist einfach so und wird so auch bleiben. Deswegen halten viele das H2-Auto für Unfug... Der wenige grüne Wasserstoff den wir haben sollte für Prozesse eingesetzt werden, bei denen wir um Wasserstoff nicht umhin können und nicht um Autos zu bewegen, die wir genauso weit mit weniger Energieaufwand bewegen können, wenn da einfach ne Batterie drin wäre.

Sorry, aber das ist keine Falle oder so. Zu spät kommen und zu früh gehen ist halt Betrug. Der Deal ist, dass du Zeit x arbeitest und dafür y Geld bekommst. Wenn du weniger arbeitest, ohne dass es bei euch ein Gleitzeitmodell oder so gibt, betrügst du halt und dein AG kann da zu Recht gegen vorgehen.

Ist das fair?

Ich halte es für unfair, dass deine KollegInnen anscheinend auch zu früh gehen - im dümmsten Fall bleibt halt Arbeit für andere liegen, das ist ja schon nicht fair gegenüber denen, die das dann aufholen dürfen. Wenn "alles erledigt" ist, muss halt nach anderen Aufgaben gefragt werden.

Das war in der Tat strategisch nicht klug, aber mir ist immer noch nicht klar, was das für eine Falle sein sollte. Du wurdest gefragt und hast das gesagt? Ja, tut man halt nicht... Aber das ist keine Falle.

Wie kommst du denn darauf? Nein, auch da bin ich bei deinem Chef. Wenn da Namen genannt würden wäre das Klima erst recht vergiftet.

Wie kann ich dies in Zukunft vermeiden?

Easy: rechtzeitig auf Arbeit sein und nicht zu früh gehen wenn es nicht klar erlaubt wurde. Du hast ja selber gemerkt, dass alles andere dich extrem angreifbar macht. Solche offenen Flanken am besten gar nicht erst bieten. Und warum hat der AG einen bei sowas so in der Hand? Weil er damit ziemlich offensichtlich im Recht ist!
