This big "+" in the middle at the bottom of the app is a bit annoying, is there a way to make it smaller and move it down like the rest of the buttons are?
Liftoff seems to be open source. Pretty sure you can ask the dev about this feature.
I didn't find a way to customize that part so far.
White text is also way too bright in amoled mode so I will make an issue for this and making the "+" smaller.
Second this, liftoff is pretty amazing and they look to be integrating kbin the future as well.
Just installed, I'm liking it so far. It's a little laggy and stuttery, but hey, like all other Lemmy apps right now it's in beta. The navigation feels better to me than other options. Thanks!
Wait for this app, if you are on android. It once was among the best Android apps in general and a very popular Reddit client. It's going to be great!
I used sync for almost a decade and I can confirm it was the optimal reddit experience. When the developer comes out with sync for lemmy I am immediately using it.
Same. I bought it in 2014 and it has been my most used app on my phone since then. ๐
Fuck u/spez
I think it'll take some time until these apps become that andvanced. Most lemmy apps are in a pretty early stage of developement and still highly WIP.
Some third party reddit apps seem to be planning on moving to lemmy, so maybe we'll see something better coming around the corner in the near future.
Boost, my favorite one, didn't get updated for quite a while and got a nice update pushed out after the API changes were announced. Kind of heartbreaking to see that effort destroyed, but the dev has announced that boost for lemmy will be a thing. The UI of boost is one of the best I ever used, so I think that the lemmy version will be great even early in development.
Yeah, devs like these have the perfect kind of skills considering UI/UX developement to get this done well.
Wefwef.app install as a PWA itโs amazing
It's a turn-off for me that this is made up to look like an iOS app. I'm using an android phone and it's kind of weird to have the sudden switch between paradigms.
As someone who's only used android, I cannot see what makes this look like iOS so I'm fairly happy with it.
Wefwef is open source, it would be cool if someone could fork it and make a version that looks more like an Android app experience.
Yeah I understand. the good news is that itโs on their roadmap to make an android UI/UX. https://github.com/aeharding/wefwef
Does anyone know why wefwef tells me my credentials are invalid when I try to login to my Lemmy.world account? I'm copy/pasting from a password manager, so I know I'm not typing it wrong.
I was searching for an android app but I guess I will give this web client a shot.
There are a number of android apps in development and idk which is best right now. But I have been very impressed with this PWA
Its surprisingly impressive for a web app, when installed its hardly noticable that its not native.
+1 for Connect.
I'm using Connect. It's far from perfect but nowhere near as broken as Jerboa.
I used Liftoff for a bit, but Connect has been the closest to the Reddit app I've used for a decade.
I started with jerboa, then I'm now trying out connect.
I've customized both to feel likewhat I have with RiF (just text, no cards, amoled black).
I think I'll stay for a while with connect for a while.
Thanks for the recommendation! I just started using Connect, instead of Jerboa, and I really like it so far. It reminds me of RiF is Fun a bit and so far it's much smother than Jerboa.
Currently trying out Thunder and it seems nice
I tried handful of apps and Thunder gives me that baconreader feel (a lot of content compress on a single screen)... and it amazingly snappy.
Is anyone else afraid of making a typo in Jeroba because there's a 50/50 chance teh backspace key will fuck up a few previous words? It's the only app where this happens on my phone but I haven't yet seen anyone else complain
It's a known issue. Unfortunately it's a bug in a library they are using, so the only thing they can do until it is fixed is to disable autocorrect (which also doesn't seem to work atm). I've encountered the same issue in another app about 6 months ago, so I don't think it will be fixed anytime soon.
I use Firefox for Android. It works perfectly, everything is usable, good UX, has dark mode, and the app even works for other websites!
You can even install the ublock extension to block all ads & trackers in opened links, or use it to block large images by default to save data. And you can install the tampermonkey extension to add this userscript I made, which rewrites all links everywhere (not only on Lemmy) to always point to your home instance. It helps a lot with subscribing to communities and in general makes browsing the web and finding Lemmy links nicer.
I honestly don't see the reason why you'd want to use a separate app.
Connect and Summit are the two I'm using.
I'm trying Summit since this morning and like it
+1 for firefox for android.
Connect is also a touch buggy, but I find it much more usable
I'm waiting for both Sync and Boost to come out with their Lemmy offerings and will probably end up with one of those. In the meantime, I'm trying Thunder and WefWef, but have also heard good things about Liftoff. Here is a list of the current (and upcoming) crop if you want to experiment: https://lemmy.world/post/465785
The PWA of the lemmy site is honestly good enough
Thunder has the best UX out of any of the lemmy apps I've used.
Agree! But tbh that wish right or farther right for upvoting and stuff is kinda weird tho, but overall I like it the most so far.
On mobile I don't really mind just using the browser. Everything works quite well and I prefer it over most of the apps. Now trying wefwef and it seems like a bit of an upgrade.
Been switching between Thunder, Liftoff and wefwef, so far I'm liking Liftoff the most, with wefwef coming in second. I used to use Boost for Reddit so now I'm waiting for Boost for Lemmy to drop so that I can finally switch from Reddit for good.
right now liftoff & wefwef are more accessible than other apps
Also using connect. Used to use baconreader for a decade and it doesn't feel all that different.
I use lemmy as a PWA. You can install it directly from your browser.
