Rules

  1. Be nice to each other. Being aggressive or inflammatory towards other users will get you banned. Name calling or obvious trolling falls under that. Hate cars, hate the system, but not people. While some drivers definitely deserve some hate, most of them didn't choose car-centric life out of free will.

  2. No bigotry or hate. Racism, transphobia, misogyny, ableism, homophobia, chauvinism, fat-shaming, body-shaming, stigmatization of people experiencing homeless or substance users, etc. are not tolerated. Don't use slurs. You can laugh at someone's fragile masculinity without associating it with their body. The correlation between car-culture and body weight is not an excuse for fat-shaming.

  3. Stay on-topic. Submissions should be on-topic to the externalities of car culture in urban development and communities globally. Posting about alternatives to cars and car culture is fine. Don't post literal car fucking.

  4. No traffic violence. Do not post depictions of traffic violence. NSFW or NSFL posts are not allowed. Gawking at crashes is not allowed. Be respectful to people who are a victim of traffic violence or otherwise traumatized by it. News articles about crashes and statistics about traffic violence are allowed. Glorifying traffic violence will get you banned.

  5. No reposts. Before sharing, check if your post isn't a repost. Reposts that add something new are fine. Reposts that are sharing content from somewhere else are fine too.

  6. No misinformation. Masks and vaccines save lives during a pandemic, climate change is real and anthropogenic - and denial of these and other established facts will get you banned. False or highly speculative titles will get your post deleted.

  7. No harassment. Posts that (may) cause harassment, dogpiling or brigading, intentionally or not, will be removed. Please do not post screenshots containing uncensored usernames. Actual harassment, dogpiling or brigading is a bannable offence.

Please report posts and comments that violate our rules.

The funniest part is that tesla self driving is objectively unsafe. There’s a reason other auto manufacturers artificially limit their systems, which aren’t far behind and in some cases are on par or arguably ahead of teslas self driving. This is also part of the reason musk is getting involved in politics, to censure the nhtsa from reporting on accidents and deaths due to his systems and remove regulations slowing him from deploying his unsafe garbage

Like you can buy a Mercedes with drive pilot, which is a much more measured approach to self driving and fully hands off in tested and approved markets. You can buy a Cadillac with super cruise which does something similar, ford blue cruise, bmw driving assistant, etc

Notice the difference? Unlike teslas “beta” full self driving these work in managed conditions, either limited to geographic areas, road conditions, etc. they’re still bougie as fuck, dumb as shit relative to public transit, and ridiculously expensive, but if you’re going to trust your actual ass life to some robot shit maybe go with one of the ones that’s terrified of the liability involved and not the one run by a baby that will sweep your death under the rug.

But man a public transit system would just be the absolute worst right? Better keep dumping our money into making tons of shitty cars that can barely drive themselves. I get to spend 1/4 of a mortgage on a goofy looking piece of shit that breaks if you tow something with it, or if a scooter hits it, or if someone puts a magnet on it but at least I don’t have to sit near any poor people on my way to work

We already have self-driving vehicles, they are called public transit

I used to live in Phoenix, Arizona and I don’t blame her for driving. They NEED better public transit there. On the occasion my wife and I couldn’t drive, it was often faster to walk for literal hours than take the bus. Phoenix is the definition of sprawl. It upset me so much when people were complaining about the city extending the light rail.

All that said, this article is pure cope. She bought a truck that makes a political statement and is upset that people don’t like that it makes a political statement.

When you knowingly and willingly drive a Swastikar, you're going to receive negative attention.

[–] ZeroHora@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 month ago

Because people doesn't know how useful the Swastikar is, they do everything that a chinese car do, cost more money but is not chinese!

I'm a psychologist who drives all over Arizona to do psychological assessments.

She has to drive a monster truck to appointments???

My partner hates seeing this. Looks like a block on the road and makes you question if you are hallucinating.

there were other options that didn't obviously support a nazi. by the time they started shipping it was clear who this person was. you had other options from ford, rivian, and gm. you chose not to take them for some reason

Business Insider published this woman’s blog post, as one does. Qui bono? https://drangelakenzslowe.com/

[–] thejevans@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 month ago

Also, of course she's the kind of person to hide that she gave a TEDx talk and not a TED talk until the last possible moment on her website.

Business Insider (and Politico) have been bought by Axel Springer, a German publisher whose flagship paper is Bild, pretty much the German sun, and is generally a heaven for innacurate reporting, and general right-wing shit-headdery.

I know 2 people, completely separate and accross the country from each other that have wrecked due to autopilot failures or errors or whatever. I know this is ultimately anecdotal, but it really seems like Tesla isn't putting up pretty good numbers given my horizon.

my self-driving Cybertruck helps reduce my ~~exhaustion~~ lifespan.

... and the lifespans of those around me.

I have difficulty seeing the exterior cameras on the cybertruck. Where are they located? Are they active at all times?

[–] ProgrammingSocks@pawb.social 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's a bad idea to mess with Teslas. They are recording at all times, circularly, and if you fuck with it the owner will be able to get video.

Well, you inspired me to answer my own question. Here's the manual

Now I know where the cameras are. That's pretty good coverage. The reverse camera is on the tailgate. If it is lowered, the camera is unusable. However, there is a cabin camera that is rear facing. That may provide some coverage to the rear, but might be obscured by things inside. Appears to mostly be for watching the driver's eyes for inattentiveness, so I don't know where it is aimed.

The cyber truck looks like a dropped soap bar
