I got the update today.
Yeah, it seems to be out for everyone on Google Play now
This looks like a rolling release, so some people will have it and some will not.
I set up a username a few days ago, but I had to opt into the beta on googleplay (I really wanted a username, fucking finally)
Not yet on https://signal.org/android/apk
As of now, the link is still on 6.47.5. Which region are you guys in that is version 7? Let me vpn over there
You might have to borrow a Google Play Store account.
I use Molly on fdroid. I do have signal but it's the apk version so I might have to tough it out
Does Molly work for that? Looks like they updated to 7.0 to me.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record here, can you confirm what version you have? I see 7.0 is released, but 6.47 is recommended.
Ah ok. I didn't check in settings. It is 6.47 foss
Edit: oddly enough, in fdroid it shows I'm on 7.0.1
Edit 2: ohh so I have 2 versions of molly installed hee hee.
Neither of them let you set your username though? Interesting. When the functionality arrived for me, it was announced via a popup that showed at the bottom of the app as soon as I updated. But it might not roll out to all 7.0 users at once either...
It works for me on 7.0. I am able to make a username but I have yet to use it as my friends probably don't have 7.0 yet
