I think the new trend is for browsers to block bad behaviour no matter where it is coming from. Firefox blocks fingerprinting, location, microphone, etc; no matter if the request is 2st or 3rd party.
It's better this way.

We need some kind of resource that has a categorized list of companies that don't advertise and vote with out wallet by purchasing goods and services directly from these companies.
I have started something like that, https://privacywiki.xyz, where I hope to describe countermeasures for common online privacy invasive technologies and services, but it's very slow going. 😕
