I just joined Lemmy / Beehaw coming from Reddit Is Fun after seeing 3rd party apps were shutting down due to the new API cost. I never posted on reddit, was just a lurker of r/nfl, but wanted to contribute this time around and say hi.

I'm a big NFL football fan and would love to see this movement take off. What's your favorite sports? What's going on in the leagues your following?

Migrating from RiF as well. Sad times. As bloated and poorly focused as r/nba was, it's still hard to beat for breaking news.

I mainly follow the NBA, casual NFL fan. Hoping the Finals is as good as it feels like it should be.

Happy to have found a sports landing spot!

Yeah, having started using mastodon, while there was some action on the NBA hashtags it was nothing compared to r/NBA

I went ahead and started a NBA community. I don't have the expertise to implement everything that r/NBA offers, but it's at least a landing spot for people seeking out an alternative to r/NBA.

That's how I feel about r/nfl. I don't watch many basketball games but gosh r/nba certainly has its hilarious moments.

The Celtics being down 3 games, to bring it back to 3-3 just to get blown out in game 7 is hilarious to me as someone with New England roots that doesn't follow the team that closely.
