He could get 20 years in prison for this stunt.
This idiot deserves consequences, but a long prison sentence seems excessive. I say take his ad money and ban him from social media for a long while..
I mean that plane could have caused a lot of damage. He's lucky it didn't kill anyone or seriously damage the environment. 20 years is the max and hopefully not what he'll get, but taking money and banning from social media seems like a really light sentence for grossly negligent and potentially harmful behavior.
Yeah his stunt was beyond stupid. However bankrupting someone and taking away their main source of income (which caused the problem) seems like a reasonable punishment. Maybe a short prison sentence but many years is disproportionate, imo... No victims to be recompensed, and I doubt he's likely to repeat the offense.
a big concern here would be fire since it's a plane. even though he pulled this stunt in December, fire concerns are year round at this point in CA and the area he crashed in is vulnerable to out-of-control wildfires; some of it hasn't ever burned in recorded CA history, from what i can tell--and that would obviously make any fire particularly bad.
