You should look into Vinegar, a Safari browser extension. It’s like $2 and blocks ads on YouTube if you watch in safari. It’s not a full app but it’s just as good and no ads. Learned it from Lemmy!
Alternatively, the Brave browser on iOS blocks them too, but it defaults to 480p and you have to manually increase up to 720p each video. Vinegar on safari lets you choose a default quality up to 1080p on my iPhone 12. You can also keep watching while the screen is off.
