I don't know anything about this, as I'm from out of state and just saw this article from the Local feed. What's the 411 on this? From the article it seems like they initiated this themselves but now they might not want to anymore?
Universities are not monoliths, to me it seems like the desire for a merger was a top-down motivation (i.e. by top level management) that faced strong opposition bottom-up (staff and faculty).
