* not really a slur, it's just french but better safe than sorry
i don't know how cool this community is with things like these, on tumblr the slur is pretty much completely reclaimed.

Even on tumblr, most people will tag it so people like me can filter it. I'm not clicking the post, but if it's the word I think it is, then yes -- it elicits an immediate involuntary trauma response in me, so even on tumblr I filter it.

I'm not saying not to use it, but I'm really thankful when people are thoughtful about it. There's a reason it's generally considered a slur. May have something to do with me being older and growing up in a very much not safe place for LGBTQIA+ people, so my experience with it was ... not good. Wish I could move past that, but I have my coping mechanisms like what I described above.

You sharing this actually made me more thoughtful of my wordings for once. I've often looked past such comments, never ignored them per se but never really delved deeper into why and brushed it off.

Thank you for sharing this and your experience regarding why. I'll bring this with me for the future!

I'm so glad you understood because I was a little bit scared to share.

And honestly, I really hope it does get generally reclaimed so that other people don't need to feel the way that I do when people use it. But I sure appreciate it being tagged!
