EDIT: After careful discussion with others, I've reluctantly decided to stick to Gmail, because we don't know if these other providers will still be around 50 years from now.

no free imap support is a dealbreaker

I've been searching a lot and the only free imap I found was gmail, hotmail, and Vivaldi.net. So yeah, lots and lots of dealbreakers everywhere.

I had no idea that Vivaldi had a mail service. But you must use their Vivaldi browser to access it, huh?

@Dymonika no, it's a normal free webmail. It also comes with a blog and mastodon account. The only verification to be able to use the webmail with imap is to be active on the mastodon account for a couple of days - just to prove that you are a human. And it works very well, been using that for over a year, recommended.
