RULES
While this is s community focused on Android, some of us have devices from the Android, Apple, Windows and Linux worlds, etc. We may prefer Android, but overzealous and obsessive adherence to Android as some sort of infallible platform won't be tolerated long here.
That said, being critical of brands is fine. Android is frustrating in some ways, just like iOS and so forth. Let's be upfront about that.
Be thoughtful and helpful, even with 'stupid' questions. Otherwise, as ya mama said, say nothing at all. The world won't be made better or worse by snarky dudes schooling naive newcomers on Lemmy.

Pixel 7 user here, battery could be better but that's about it - super satisfied otherwise. Also have the pixel buds pro, and use a Mac + iPad (although I'd take a look at the pixel tablet if I didn't). Super satisfied!
Used to use Samsung Galaxy S22, and there's a lot of small software features missing there which added up. Ex: volume control for cast device did not work on samsung (had to control volume manually from the app rather than volume buttons). All the calling features (call screen, hold for me, etc), astrophotography, slow camera shutter speed (on default settings), and general UI/UX I prefer on Pixel over Samsung.
That's interesting that you couldn't control cast audio with the volume buttons, it works fine for me! I'm on an S23U, but I feel certain it also worked in my S21U...
does it work for you outside of the app? like if you are casting to for example a google nest hub, and on your phone try to change the nest hub's volume while browsing other stuff.
Yep. If I'm using another app and I tap the volume up / down buttons, it'll adjust the volume of the audio I'm casting.
