I have no trust in reddit at this point so I have no plans on going back. I should of seen the writing on the wall when they went closed source.
I never knew any component of Reddit was ever open-source? But yeah, that AMA was so bleak. I'm enjoying Lemmy a lot right now, so maybe I can do without Reddit.
It's just that Reddit has been like my one cultural constant in the last decade. I have ADHD, so I tend to go through phases of things but the sheer diversity of Reddit and all the years of history of the site meant that it's been a really big part of my life. I know that's probably similar for a lot of other folks.
@WatTyler @Sailor_jets #Reddit used to be #FOSS years ago, and there's an archived version of their code here:

IDK if anybody's actually using it to host a forum site though.
Wow, I legit never knew. Thanks for the link, that's really interesting.
Yeah it went closed source in like 2017. I remember the reason being something really stupid along the lines of Open Source making it hard for them to devlop things "in the clear" or some silly shit. I would check but lol, everythings shut down and I have no attention of giving them traffic.
Gonna miss /r/ADHDmemes a good bit…
But yeah dude, I used reddit for like 12 years lol. So I feel where you are coming from, it's definitely a hole. But I remember the old times when everything was more spread out and communities were smaller so it's not a huge deal to me. But the internet is constantly changing so I hope you stick around so we can make something better!
