RULES
While this is s community focused on Android, some of us have devices from the Android, Apple, Windows and Linux worlds, etc. We may prefer Android, but overzealous and obsessive adherence to Android as some sort of infallible platform won't be tolerated long here.
That said, being critical of brands is fine. Android is frustrating in some ways, just like iOS and so forth. Let's be upfront about that.
Be thoughtful and helpful, even with 'stupid' questions. Otherwise, as ya mama said, say nothing at all. The world won't be made better or worse by snarky dudes schooling naive newcomers on Lemmy.

Note 20 ultra. Android for a long time, had pda phones before smart phones were a thing. Last dailys were s10, s8+, s5, s4 s3. s2 and samsung infuse as s1. I had iphone 1g and 2g for that sweet capacitive screen then bailed due to feeling of lack of control over the device. Fast forward, won't upgrade from my note due to losing features like sd card. Maybe I could accept losing the 1/8 jack, but when these devices felt like a new upgrade to civilization every few years, losing features doesn't feel like progress. Cameras are important as well, I also had flip phones, Motorola v400 had an impressive camera for its time, and since then I've purchased with cameras, features, and battery life in mind, and I feel like the note 20 was about the peak, and since then devices cut corners for profits. I'd like to see them get smaller and lighter with similar features, not heavier and bigger. I miss one handed flagship devices like the s8+.
Pixel 6a with Graphene OS
Yes. It does everything I need in a phone. Good things: fast CPU, long security updates, well supported by third party ROMs. Bad things: too big
Nexus 4, Moto X, Oneplus 3t, Pixel 3a
I liked all of them. The Moto X felt nicest in the hand. The 3t was the most flagship-y when I got it, probably the best build. The glass back on the Nexus made me nervous but wireless charging in a phone that cheap was awesome.
Used to be every 2-3 years cos that's what I could afford, now its every 2-3 years cos phones don't change that much. Only upgraded from the 3a because it stopped getting secuirty updates.
My next phone will probably be a clamshell folding phone. The new RAZR looks like its cheap enough and folding phones are exciting in a way that new phones used to be.
Pixel Buds Pro. They're great, I didn't realise how much having a tiny case would change how I use headphones. I had the Sony ones before, but only carried them when I knew I'd use them. I carry the pixel buds everywhere and it means I use them more.
Linux on my devices, all the above on work devices
Nice! I'm very interested in a folding phone too (preferably book fold), but I'm trying to hold out until I'm happier with the folded thickness and the visibility of the crease.
I sold my Pixel Bud Pros as they wouldn't stay in my ears very well and I can't be bothered with trying all the aftermarket tips, haha. I had some Comply foam tips a while ago and they didn't really improve the experience much. You're right about small cases though, it's so fulfilling to have my buds snugly in my coin pocket, but so many earbud brands insist on massive cases (presumably it saves money in some way).
