Last one of the night. This is a blessed song, from a blessed musical which sits in my top 5. Because this movie is perfectly imperfect (See what I did there? Snuck in another musical. Muwahaha!) and very much worth your time if you're open to surreal low(er)-budget weirdness. And if you decide to watch this, why not make it a double feature with Kikujiro? Or the original movie, The Quiet Family. Both with great soundtracks as well (among other things, they're all great flicks).

Not sure if there's a place for soundtrack posting, but wrote about Eraserhead and how you can watch that film and not eternally have the radiator lady's song burnt into your head forever idk?

After adding operatic vocals to Gojira's rendition of "Ah! Ça Ira," a song popular during the French Revolution, she went on to sing a portion of Georges Bizet's Carmen.

From NME:

The heavy metallers performed ‘Ah, Ça Ira!’ (which translates to ‘It’ll be fine’), a song that was popular during the French revolution, during a segment titled ‘Liberté’ (in reference to France’s famed motto ‘Liberté, égalité, fraternité’) that celebrated one of the most famous events in French history, as well as the nation’s emphasis on freedom.

Gojira appeared on the side of a castle surrounded by fire and bursts of red streamers to represent blood, with Viotti later appearing on a moving prop boat. Their performance followed a portion dedicated to Les Miserables and came just after a beheaded Marie Antoinette was shown singing.

Traditional lyrics translated at wikipedia (linked above) Gojira's lyrics translated via redditors:

Oh. It'll be okay, be okay, be okay,
Hang the aristocrats from on high!
Oh. It'll be okay, be okay, be okay,
The aristocrats, we'll hang 'em all.
Despotism will breathe its last,
Liberty will take the day,
Oh. It'll be okay, be okay, be okay,
We don't have any more nobles or priests,
Oh. It'll be okay, be okay, be okay,
Equality will reign everywhere,
The Austrian slave will follow him,
To the Devil will they fly.
Oh. It'll be okay, be okay, be okay,
To the Devil will they fly.

Babe wake up, new Jesse Welles just dropped.

There is promise in the morning

There is power in the blood

folks drink it for the feeling

I just drink jus because

I do what John Denver tells me

I wanna do right, don’t let anyone fail me

Let it be me

And only me

Let it be me

And only me

Let it be me and only me

Who fails me

Their new, 23rd album =1 follows a run of chart hits including top 10 records Infinite (2017) and Whoosh! (2020), suggesting a band in late-career resurgence. Driven, perhaps, by the fact that their audience seems to consist almost entirely of horn-waving Benjamin Buttons.

“It’s very exciting,” Gillan enthuses. “About 15 years ago, something weird happened. There was a whole new generation of fans. Our audiences from about 2009 or 2010 onwards have been mainly 15- to 22-year-olds. That’s been a great input of energy in the shows.”

“In the Seventies we just broke up,” he says. “Everyone’s seen Spinal Tap and that’s pretty much what happens. Outside influences come in, too much money, ‘we’re immortal’, all that rubbish. Then you go off and you try to do things individually and realize it’s the collective effort that really made it work.

Harris’s move to seek permission to use the hit song comes after the co-writer of a song used in Donald Trump’s rallies spoke out to reveal his disapproval.

At the Republican National Convention last week – days after surviving an assassination attempt – Trump walked on stage to the song Hold On, I’m Coming.

The co-writer of the Sam & Dave’s 1966 hit David Porter told The Independent that the 78-year-old former president had never asked for permission to use his music in his political campaign.

“I can say [that] I don’t want any of my songs used for political campaigns,” he said. “We create music for uplifting people, not separating them.”

I heard this track a few days ago on a community radio station. The station was https://krcl.org/, which is a pretty good place to find new artists.

This album dropped a few weeks ago and I've been listening on repeat. It's a weird mix of genres but every song is a banger IMO.

There are some slightly annoying - if brief - ads for the artist's merch store between each song, so if you'd prefer an uninterrupted listening experience you can find the album on Spotify or other streaming platforms, I assume.

Translation: "Hello everyone, In the last few years I have created some individual music compilations (CDs + playlist / download) as birthday presents for friends & relatives. The concept is that the compilation contains one song per year from the year of birth to the current year.

The music spectrum: 🎸 🥁 The focus is on party-appropriate #rock music (#alternative #indie #crossover #grunge), then partly supplemented by the individual taste of the recipient (so far including #punk #darkwave #medieval rock (soft) #metal #pop)

The oldest ‘birthday child’ so far was born in 1956. Since I know my way around that time musically, the 90s are strongly overrepresented, while my preselection in the 50s/60s, but also in the 2010s contains only little selection / variety. Further additions are also very welcome in the 70s/80s and from 2005 onwards.

*The next post contains the list (preselection) or an excerpt from it. * I would be very grateful for any relevant music tips and look forward to your additions!"

🔁 Gerne teilen #boostOk 🚀
