Not sure if there's a lot of appetite for another social, but I've been using Grainery for a little while. It's nice to get another part of my work out from under the Meta thumb. Has anyone else used it?

What's your go to B&W film? (media.kbin.social)

I've played with pretty much any film I come across, and in terms of cost-benefit I've settled on Fomapan films. I like the grain structure, they are some of the cheapest BW film available and have great latitude if you like to mess with stand development. I shot this photo on a Pentax ME camera using Fomapan 100. Developed at home with Ilfotec DDX and scanned with a Canon 5D Mk3 + Canon 100mm f2.8.

So I don't shoot slide film enough to justify having the E6 chemistry on hand, but have seen this process come up a few times where you effectively use a common black and white developer to do a first development on the film, which is subsequently taken out of the developing tank, fogged intentionally using a light source, and development continues using C41 chemistry. This is similar to the E6 process which also uses a first developer, but differs in that E6 uses a chemical fogging agent.

Has anyone tried this and had any decent results? I've got a bulk roll of Ektachrome to do some experiments but the less film wasted the better.

Brand new to film photography and I shot my first roll of HP5 on my inherited Canon AE-1 Program.

This imagine is my favorite and I’m pretty proud of it.

Critique is welcome!

New batch of negs—mix of Ilford HP5, Fuji Superia Xtra, and Kodak ColorPlus. Had never even heard of ColorPlus until I decided to pick up a roll on a whim. It's got a really warm tone and feels a bit less sharp than the Fuji—not my favorite, but was fun to try out. Looking forward to printing!

I developed and scanned my own film for the first time last week, Rollei 400S developed in Rodinal. Pretty happy with the end result!

Welcome to The Darkroom on kbin!

Images and discussions about development, printing, darkroom techniques, and analog photo critique are all welcome here.

For those unfamiliar with kbin, take a look at this ad hoc FAQ to get started. The kbinMeta magazine is another helpful resource.

kbin is new and under development, so there are some ongoing issues. One which is particularly important to this magazine is that image uploads on threads seem to be broken. However, you can still use the workaround in the issue tracker, post images in the microblog section, or use a third-party site to host your photo and post it as a Link.

Thanks for giving this new magazine a try. If you want it to succeed, please post your content here!

Photo shot on Ilford HP5 and (probably) developed in DD-X / 5x7 print on Ilford MGIV RC Satin. Looking to make a few more tweaks to make the contrast pop a bit more and pull some more detail out of the steam.
